This recording has probably stopped more people dead in their tracks than any ever made. Here is a typical excerpt from one of its innumerable over-the-top reviews: “Words cannot describe poignantly enough the exquisite, angelic voices that permeate the heart and exalt the soul on Sacred Treasures.” From another, “…probably the most moving collection of Russian Orthodox and Byzantine sacred music I have ever heard.”
No track is better than another and frequent listens apparently don't fatigue.
This collection is an excellent introduction to early "sacred" classical music like medieval and Gregorian chants and a good way to get familiar with music that will lead you to pre-romantic religious music sometimes inaccessible at first. Also a good choice for newcomers to classical music, but even experienced listeners and the most jaded appetites will find it enchanting. If you ever must come to peace with yourself, or others, this is a pretty good place to start, as the music will embrace you in an vast blissful oceanic cathedral of mystery and enchantment. 15 seconds of this will give you the drift, here is a link to 30 sec. snippets of the 17 tracks, try any of tracks 2-16 (1 and 17 are short selections of bells).
This blog is for people who want to learn to appreciate classical music. All music was chosen for accessibility and outstanding merit. Most have won awards and reflect my 60+ years of listening. Most classical music is just the popular music from the past and needs no more training to enjoy than pop music or eating ice cream. It is dedicated to Dr. Joe Stocco who mastered all western classical music by age 12 and introduced me to it when I was 13. My public playlists are on Spotify at jbritell.

What a great list! Relaxing and ethereal. Excellent yoga or just background music when reading. And uplifting, too. Thanks Jim!
